On November 9-10, 2024, an extraordinary event will highlight Morocco’s tourism and culinary calendar. Specifically, the Oriental Desert Express of Gastronomy offers an unprecedented experience, as it combines the exploration of the desert landscapes of Eastern Morocco with a celebration of local cuisine. Ultimately, this journey is not only a culinary and human adventure but also an opportunity to discover this lesser-known region while supporting local communities.
To begin with, the journey starts at 7:15 AM from Oujda. During this trip, the Oriental Desert Express makes several stops, including Béni Oukil, Tiouli, Aïn Beni M’Thar, and Tendrara, before arriving in Bouarfa. At each stop, travelers will have the chance to admire the stunning beauty of the Moroccan desert, characterized by breathtaking landscapes and memorable encounters.
Moreover, beyond the train ride, this journey holds a significant social impact. Participants will distribute school supplies, books, and clothing to local populations, thereby blending tourism with social responsibility.
One of the most memorable highlights of this adventure is a dinner under the stars. Prepared by renowned Moroccan chefs, this meal showcases traditional Moroccan flavors with a modern twist. In this magical desert setting, participants will experience an exceptional culinary event that is enhanced by the beauty of the night sky.
Additionally, many celebrated Moroccan chefs will take part in this event. Chef Moha, famous for modernizing traditional Moroccan recipes, along with Haja Khadija Bensdira, a passionate advocate for regional cuisine, are among them. Furthermore, they will be joined by Chefs Myriam Ettahiri, Ait El Hadi, Issam Rhachi, Saïd Afle, Hicham El Heddani, and Ahmed El Maana. Together, they will provide a sensory journey through their masterful dishes.
On the following day, a breakfast in Figuig will precede a guided tour of this historic oasis. Subsequently, the day will be filled with culinary activities such as cooking competitions and live cooking demonstrations. Moreover, attendees will also witness local young chefs showcasing their culinary talents in a series of competitions.
